Apple published iOS 18.3 on Monday, more than a month after the release of iOS 18.2. While the most recent version improves a few features, such as Apple Intelligence notification summaries, it also addresses a number of problems. Apple also stated that one of those issues may have been actively exploited in older iOS versions, possibly providing others illegal access.
To download the update, navigate to Settings > General > Software Update, then hit Update Now and follow the on-screen prompts.

Apple said in the update’s CVE entry (common vulnerabilities and exposures) that an application may be able to escalate privileges. According to the EC Council, an information security research and certification group, privilege escalation enables a bad actor to get access to sensitive data on your device. Updating to iOS 18.3 will help prevent those folks from gaining unwanted access to your iPhone.
Apple stated online that it is aware of a report that this flaw might have been exploited against iOS software prior to iOS 17.2. It is unclear whether this defect affects later.iOS versions vary, but it’s important to upgrade your smartphone right away to get the greatest possible security.
