How to get YouTube picture-in-picture on iOS

You’re in luck if you own an iPhone and a YouTube Premium membership since a new picture-in-picture feature allows you to view a YouTube video while simultaneously browsing through other applications on your phone.

With the introduction of iOS 14 last year, Apple gave the iPhone picture-in-picture functionality, which lets you use other applications like check your email while still watching Netflix or FaceTime with a buddy. Additionally, as 9to5Google originally reported, Google began implementing picture-in-picture functionality for YouTube for a select group of Premium users back in June. This week, the feature was expanded to a larger audience. Currently categorized as “experimental,” the function is available for iOS Premium members to try out right now.

Picture-in-picture will be accessible until October 31 according to YouTube’s website, but we don’t know what will happen to it after then. That may occur then, since the business has said that it would make the service available to all free US customers as well.

If you have a YouTube Premium subscription, here’s how to access YouTube picture-in-picture on your iPhone. (Some users told 9to5Google that it also works on their iPad, although you may need to remove the app first.)

How to get YouTube to display images on an iOS device: picture-in-picture-ios-

1x YouTube 1. Go to YouTube.com/new after logging into your Google account.

  1. Click Try it out after scrolling down to Picture-in-picture on iOS.
  2. On your iPhone, launch the YouTube app and begin watching a video.
  3. To exit the YouTube app while the video is playing, hit the home button or slide up. As you open other programs, this should cause the movie to begin playing in a mini-player on your screen.

YouTube claims that if you lock your phone’s screen when a video is in picture-in-picture mode, the movie will halt. However, you may use the lock screen media controls to continue playing it.

Have fun watching!
