What exactly is Signal, however, and has it ever been utilized by government officials?

According to the BBC, the app was launched in 2014, more than ten years ago, and as of 2022, over 40 million users were using it for encrypted chat. Following a privacy policy modification by WhatsApp, another encrypted messaging service owned by Facebook’s parent company Meta, the app became more well-known in January 2021.
