Apple is preparing to launch iOS 18 in the autumn; that upgrade is meant to provide features such adjustable home and lock screens to your iPhone. When it launched in 2023, the tech behemoth enlarged an anti-harassment function in iOS 17. Called Sensitive Content Warnings, that function is meant to shield you from abuse like being emailed unwanted nudes.

Apple claims Sensitive Content Warnings use on-device machine learning to examine and filter photographs and videos delivered to you possibly containing nudity. iOS 17.2 increased these alerts to include Contact Posters and explicit stickers as well. By default, these alerts are off; however, setting them on is really simple.

To activate Sensitive Content Warnings on your iPhone,

Enable Sensitive Content Warnings by:

1. Launching Settings.

2. Press Security & Privacy.
3. Touch Warning for Sensitive Content.
4. Press the switch beside Sensitive Content Warning. Once Sensitive Content Warnings are turned on, anything your iPhone believes includes nudity will show blurred. A note saying “This might be sensitive” will cover it. iOS 17’s Sensitive Content Warnings menu.
   The Settings page displays the App & Service Access menu under Sensitive Content Warnings.
   Content delivered via messaging, AirDrop, Contact Posters in the Phone app and FaceTime video messaging receives these warnings. Once you have turned on these alerts, you may choose under App & Service Access in the Sensitive Content Warning menu which applications and services they apply to. Tapping the triangle with an exclamation point in the top-right corner of the obscured content will provide assistance or guidance if you are unclear on what to do when someone gives you sensitive material. This will include safety tools including advice on handling harassment and items to think about before sharing a naked picture or opening a blurred image. There are also extra materials for adults in addition to those for children and teens. Should you want to see material flagged as possibly sensitive, use the “Show” button in the bottom-right corner of the blurred picture.
